Attached is a picture of Morgan Barlow and Rachel Smith at Sunday's
NEPSWLA All-Star game at Holy Cross. The two had a great time and
represented Landmark with flying colors! Morgan, as I understand it,
was one of only 4 freshman selected to participate with All-Stars from
various New England prep-schools. Rachel played her dominant offensive
style and netted herself a goal!

Fight Until The End
The Girls Varsity Lacrosse team ended the last week of their
season with three games on the road: Montrose on Monday, Waring on Tuesday, and
Gann on Thursday.
On Monday, the girls faced high-ranked Montrose under a
complete downpour. Even though the rain made it difficult to see and hear, the
girls pressured the Montrose and worked as a unit to break up many of their
offensive play attempts. Notable moments included Scanlon zipping through a
series of defenders to score two unassisted goals, Amigo making a quick
snapshot at the end of the game, and an assist by goaltender Ferry. The final
score was 13-22.
On a slightly less rainy Tuesday, the team traveled a short
way down the street to play Waring. With helpful cheering from fans and an
amazing 24 saves out of 37 shots by goaltender Ferry, this was a tense and
exciting game to watch. Highlights of this game included Churchill making a
goal in both the beginning and end of the game, Cataldo and Holmes coordinating
effective defense, and two goals right off the bat from Clark, who
unfortunately then sprained her ankle. The final score was 13-18.
On a beautiful Thursday afternoon in Waltham the girls
entered their last game with a solid mentality: to enjoy the game and play
every moment as if it were a tie. Their unwavering commitment to this goal was
visible even when there was not enough time left to tie it up. Unaccustomed to
playing on turf, the girls struggled to snag ground balls and this allowed Gann
to benefit from much of the fumbling activity. Amigo, Barlow, Scanlon, and
Garrett each had a number of excellent shots, with Barlow finding the net three
times. Churchill snuck past defenders to lob one in near the crease during the
first half as well. Smith found an unusual struggle of her own for the first 10
minutes of the game: getting past the goalie. Adding to her troubles was a
menacing Gann “friend” who followed her every move. However, she overcame her
frustrations and made five goals and one assist. Garrett showed her speed on
defense by outrunning her opponents many times on their offensive attacks. The
final score was 9-15.
In each game the girls communicated incredibly well and
didn’t show an ounce of weakness despite long nights of rehearsal and several
injuries that left them without subs. While the score of each game did not end
in their favor, they should be congratulated for their teamwork and ability to
fight through adversity throughout the season. We will miss graduating seniors
Mackenzie Amigo, Maddy Ferry, and Savannah Hartigan next year!

The girls lacrosse team had a busy, tiring week with three games in five days (coming off Prom and SATs).
The team faced Brimmer and May on Tuesday, May 8th. Brimmer and May was ready for revenge after the Vikings had beat them earlier in the season. Despite efforts all over the field, Brimmer and May came out with the 20-17 win.
Two days later, the team faced CH-CH in Waltham. The Vikings were looking for revenge this time. CH-CH has always been a rival for the girls lacrosse team. After a back and forth battle, CH-CH stole a 12-10 victory.
Friday brought Cambridge School of Weston to Iron Rail for a home game. You could tell the girls were ready for a win after a tough week and they sure showed it. With both teams playing down a girl, it was a fair match and the Vikings came out on top with a 10-5 victory!
All the girls should be commended on their hard work last week and also be wished luck for the upcoming week, which is filled with three more away games, including their last game of the season.

Tough Week
The Girl’s lacrosse team faced a tough couple of home games
this week, losing to Gann Academy 16-10 on Wednesday and Chapel Hill 20-16 on
Thursday.
Against Gann, the team kept up their energy throughout the
game despite not having any subs available on the sidelines. It helped to have
strict referees; the girls were able to catch their breath frequently when the
whistle blew. K. Aldrich, filling in for our regular goaltender, faced a total
of 26 shots on net. On offense, R. Smith initially had difficulty finding the
net but then found the goalie’s weak spot down low. Smith scored 7 out of the
10 Landmark goals; other contributors were T. Clark and S. Scanlon in the first
half, and M. Barlow in the second half. Clark also faced a two-minute penalty
in the second half for a body check.
Against Chapel Hill, the girls went back-and-forth on many
of the goals but could not stop the speed of two very quick Chapel Hill
players. Together, these girls scored 16 out of Chapel Hill’s 20. In net for Landmark, M. Ferry made 10 saves
and faced many players who shot right on the crease. Defensively, C. Garrett
did a particularly nice job running to stay with her mark from the midfield all
the way to the goal. On offense, Ferris
had the first goal of the game from a free position shot. D. Churchill took a
beautiful shot assisted by J. Ferris early in the second half. Other goals
included Clark with four, Barlow with a hat trick, and R. Smith with a double
hat trick. Barlow fought hard to win the draws and did so successfully five
times.
The girls will play next Tuesday at Brimmer and May.

The girls lacrosse team took on Montrose last Wednesday (4/25) on
Collins Field. The game was all about improvements. First of all, the
team improved
attendance numbers by having everyone there! A first of the year! In the
first
8 minutes, Montrose’s offense came out strong with 7 unanswered goals. A
timeout
was called, which refueled Landmark’s confidence, energy and positive
attitudes. Rachel Smith put the team on the board with the first goal
after the
timeout which started an upswing for the girls. A.Holmes, K.O’Brien,
M.Doolan, K.Aldrich and S.Scanlon improved their communication on
defense which
led to many caused turnovers and countless saves by M.Ferry continued
the
progress. Goals in the first half also came from S.Scanlon, M.Amigo,
M.Barlow. You wouldn’t have known the second
half was part of the same game. Defense allowed 3 goals the entire half,
which
was an immense improvement from the 12 in the first half. This was also
thanks
to hard work from S.Hartigan, M.Cataldo. On attack, D.Churchill,
J.Ferris and C.Garrett moved the ball well and made great cuts. T. Clark
popped in a goal followed by
a pair added my R. Smith and another by M.Barlow to finish the game.
Although
the final score was 10-15, the girls should be complimented on the
progress
made in the game and also their ability to not give up and persevere.

W-I-N 14-8 vs. Brimmer & May
The Girls Lacrosse team took home their second win of the season this past Thursday afternoon, beating Brimmer & May 14-8. Despite the ominous weather, the team started strong with a goal by Diane Churchill and assisted by Mackenzie Amigo, only one minute into the game. Brimmer and May showed strong competition from a few key players and answered the call. The Landmark scoring continued with three by Rachel Smith in the first half, as well as one by Amigo. Kelli O'Brian, playing in her first game of the season, rounded out the scoring of the first half by making a free position shot. In the second half of the game, Landmark took the intensity up a notch to drown out any chance of a Brimmer Rally. Stephanie Scanlon, playing defensive wing, brought the ball up through the attack retraining line and sunk her shot two minutes into the second half. Tori Clark, who had made a handful of solid shots on net through the game, added a notch to the scoreboard. Morgan Barlow, who faced tough defensive coverage, snuck by her opponents to score two, and Smith made three more goals to bring the score to 14-8. On defense, Ashley Holmes continued her excellent communication with her defensive mates to protect the goalies from seeing too much action. Other notable action on defense included Catherine Garrett moving at the speed of light to make sure her player was marked, and Jess Ferris fighting through a little bit of blood loss from a hand/stick collision. Maddy and Lydi both made quick saves in net against shots from Brimmer; they saw 8 and 9 shots on net, respectively. The girls will face Chapel Hill, away, this coming Friday.

The Girls Lacrosse team played Waring on Collins field in
their first home game of the season. The first half was a back and
forth battle
between Landmark and Waring. Katy Aldrich and Cathryn Garret put the
team on the
board with the team's first two goals of the game and their first goals
of the season. That set the pace for the rest of
the half. Goals by Rachel Smith, Morgan Barlow and Tori Clark, along
with hard
work from Mackenzie Amigo, Jess Ferris and Diane Churchill (not to
mention Maddy
Ferry’s 16 incredible saves) brought us to the end of the first half
only down
by 1. The second half began with 4 unanswered Waring goals and an
unexpected
goalie substitution, but this did not stop the team’s determination.
Maxie
Cataldo bravely stepped into goal making 7 saves in the second half.
With the
help of our tireless low defenders Meagan Doolan, Ashley Holmes and
Savannah
Hartigan moving the ball up to the midfield, Rachel Smith was
unstoppable
scoring 6 of Landmark’s 7 2nd half goals. Stephanie Scalon ended the
game on a high note with her goal with just 2 minutes left. Despite Landmark’s
efforts and never-give-up attitudes (and only having one sub) Waring left
Collins Field with a win.
